Sourcing Komatsu Parts for Less – Why Domestic Suppliers Can Be a Good Bet

Anyone who's run a big plant engine of any kind knows that Komatsu parts can be harder to find than they ought to be. Why? Because Komatsu deal in all kinds of engine and generator, and carry a reputation for top quality and reliability. The result of which is that their parts are frequently sourced from the continent ' they have to come through recognised suppliers, if they're genuine Komatsu, which means they are subject to shipping delay and occasional availability problems.

Understandably, a lot of companies and individuals who operate Komatsu engines put up with this ' taking the view that if Komatsu want them to source genuine parts for their plants, then they'd better follow instruction. No-one, after all, wants their multi-thousand-pound machine to break because it got fitted with the wrong bit. However. What the users of Komatsu parts don't necessarily realise is that there are domestic suppliers of Komatsu approved kit, right here in the UK, whose parts are designed to fit with and work in Komatsu engines alone.

Domestic suppliers of Komatsu ready engine parts, like the extremely well regarded KMP Brand outfit, offer two major advantages over continental suppliers of actual Komatsu parts. First, the domestic gear is notably cheaper (particularly at the moment, with the Euro knocking the pound down to an insupportably low level); and second, it's posted and shipped within the UK, which means that it usually arrives same day and can certainly accommodate rush emergency deliveries.

The Euro's current strength against sterling shows little, if any, sign of abatement. Financially speaking, then, there's reason enough for UK based users of Komatsu engines to think about switching their supply to a domestic company like KMP. Why spend almost twice as much doing business in Euros, when the same Komatsu parts can be sourced right here in the UK ' and shipped much, much quicker? UK companies are catching up to that idea (good news for KMP and their brethren), now, though perhaps they would have made the move earlier had they realised that the Komatsu ready parts manufactured by companies like KMP have been built to an extraordinary degree of fidelity and operating quality. That's a third reason for considering domestic supply of Komatsu ready engine bits.

The companies who make them don't have to worry about manufacturing body shells, or suspension kit, or chassis, or any of the other stuff that the Komatsu corporation has to get right in order to build a whole earth moving machine, say. All KMP need to do is perfect the actual Komatsu parts that make the engines work. Which they've done so well that, in some cases, the UK brand part is actually slightly longer lived than its branded Komatsu equivalent. When you can devote an entire R and D department to just producing Komatsu pistons, for example, or gear cogs, you're bound to get pretty good at it. KMP here in the UK, have done just that.
